Melamine CAS#108-78-1

Broad Industrial Applicability‌: Serves as a key raw material for plastics, laminates and adhesives, and acts as a critical precursor for resin and melamine-formaldehyde polymer production.

Non-Flammable with Superior Stability‌: Features outstanding inherent stability, is completely non-flammable, and maintains its performance even when exposed to strong acids and oxidizing agents.

Ultra-High Melting Point‌: Boasts a melting point exceeding 300°C, making it perfectly suited for high-temperature scenarios across a wide range of industrial workflows.

Controlled Low Water Solubility‌: Though slightly soluble in water, its limited solubility profile further boosts its stability and unlocks unique value for targeted chemical processing applications.

Product Details

Commonly known as "protein essence" or "mi'an" in Chinese nomenclature, melamine is a nitrogen-rich triazine heterocyclic organic compound designed exclusively for industrial chemical applications. It presents as odorless, white monoclinic crystals, with a water solubility of only 3.1 g/L at room temperature. While barely dissolving in water, it shows excellent solubility in formaldehyde, acetic acid, hot ethylene glycol, glycerol and pyridine.

The compound remains completely insoluble in acetone and ether. It carries clear health hazards and is strictly prohibited from being used in any food processing or as a food additive. However, some unethical producers once adulterated dairy products with melamine, in a deliberate attempt to artificially boost nitrogen readings and falsify protein content test results.
