Isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) finds extensive use in the manufacture of high-performance polyurethanes, which offer excellent stability, superior resistance to light-induced discoloration, and outstanding chemical durability. It is frequently incorporated into paints and varnishes to improve hardness, flexibility, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, and protection against chalking and weathering.

IPDI is also employed in producing elastomers for casting compounds, mastics, and highly flexible textile coatings, as well as durable industrial coatings. Additionally, it is used in the fabrication of contact lenses and serves as a curing agent in various polyurethane formulations.
